Happy Gotcha Day Lucy 1/16/08!
I can hardly believe that it's been a year already since Lucy made us a family. We celebrated by having the grandparents and godparents over for some traditional Colombian food that Kurt and I made.
What a change for us. Becoming a parent at 39! Not for long, I'll be FORTY on Friday. Holy shit! Being a Mom is not for the faint of heart. There is something to be said for having kids when a person's in their 20's or 30's for that matter! What I wouldn't do for 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep (LC is cutting 1 year molars at the moment).
But did I mention that she is SO worth it? I love her smell and her snuggles. It almost makes me cry when I hear that laugh. It cracks me up when I see her pretend to take some crackers out of her "snack trap" and hold out her hand for the dog. Callie falls for it every time, the beggar. That's a lab for you. Lucy loves to dance. She holds her hands in the air like she just don't care:) She even has a little pelvic thrust down. I'm not kidding.
I hope her Birth Mom knows that she is safe and LOVED. I pray every day that she does. What a gift she has entrusted to us. There is such an incredible feeling of gratitude.
I feel like we should be packing and going back to pick up our next little Colombian bundle of joy. I wonder what life has in store for us???? No news from our social worker...Sigh...oh well. My gut tells me we'll have at least a 2 year wait...
Lucy is definitely keeping us busy. We met our friends in Hudson for a play date this past weekend. Check out Hope and Lucy playing at the Giggle Factory.
Lucy and I started swimming lessons at the YMCA. SHE LOVES THE WATER! Lucy and Serik are total buds.

I know what you mean how hearing her laugh almost makes you cry - I feel exactly the same way when Charlotte laughs. I love that I ran into you at Target and we were able to see each other's kiddos, and I can't wait to see you on Thursday!
P.S. Happy Gotcha Day anniversary!
Dear Lucy, Phyllis and Kurt!
CONGRATULATIONS to your first "Gotcha Day". Our first family day, as we call it, will be on 12th February and I do know so very well what you mean with your words, saying her laugh almost makes you cry. That´s exactly the way I feel about Fernando. It almost hurts how much I love our little Colombian - even when he makes me mad, which, well, he does every now and then ;-)
Greetings from your Colombian-German friends
Katja, Micha and Fernando!
P.S. Happy 40 Birthday :-)))
